Powerful women across generations.
Becoming is inspired by those who have fluctuated between states of being, who have been told who they are, tried to clarify, failed, and tried again, who witness and record the world around them and claim space through their medium of choice.
We’re a project-based, contemporary gallery founded in 2023 by Callie Jones and Julia Li in @ghirardellisquare, San Francisco, a bayside landmark since 1862, a Lawrence Halprin-designed community space, and home of @ruthasawaofficial first public work. COL is named in honor of the late sculptor @richardnonasofficial (1936-2021).
